Elmer Dixon Interview by Hi Ho Kids
The #HiHoKids meet a former Black Panther, including Executive Diversity Services President Elmer Dixon. Dixon was co-founder of the Seattle Chapter of the Black Panthers.
Students also interview Marcia Tate Arunga. Arunga was a committed community worker serving in several of the programs of the Seattle Chapter. The HiHo Kids interview her for this segment as well.
HiHo Kids promotes empathy through play.
Learn more about Elmer’s experience as the co-founder of the Seattle Chapter of the Black Panther Party. The University of Washington interviewed him as part of the Seattle Civil Rights and Labor History Project, housed at the University of Washington .
Marcia Tate Arunga wrote a book called The Stolen Ones and How They Were Missed. The book is “an allegorical tale about a girl stolen form her African home to serve the Trans-atlantic slave trade and was missed by her family and village.
The youth from HiHo kids did their research first. They share what they know about the Black Panther party and learn new insights during the interviews. You can watch them here:
